Call of Duty’s new battle royale mode has taken the FPS world by storm and now you’re looking to join in on the action. In order to be a dominant force to be reckoned with as soon as possible, we’ve taken the guesswork out so you can be battle-ready in no time. Here are 5 of the best Warzone tips to help you and your squad perforate the competition.
1) It’s dangerous to go alone
Battle royale games are all about plopping down into a heated battlefield with another 99 bloodthirsty opponents and trying to come out on top, and that is the same for Warzone. Even though you’ve got two other team members, the feeling of being surrounded with a loaded rifle waiting around every corner quickly sinks in. It’s important, therefore, to put your squad’s survival as a top priority amongst all other Warzone tips.
Assessing situations together and choosing the right time and way to approach them as a team can mean the difference between scoring some vital kills and a trip to the Gulag. Even though money is collected individually, a squad can pool their resources together in order for all squad members to get the best gear possible. Ending up with one player becoming the weakest link could spell doom quicker than you think.
2) Enjoy the view but not too much
Just like in other BR games, parachuting your way to the battlezone is a key aspect of Warzone, albeit with a few twists. For one, you can deploy your parachute whenever you want to descend at a slower pace. The main twist is that the game allows you to cut the cord so that you can fall faster. You can then redeploy and cut it off again. Doing this allows you to control your descent’s pace.
This technique is being used by almost every player at the moment to get to their chosen landing zone as quickly as possible. Mastering it as soon as possible is, therefore, key to making a solid start.
3) Always be prepared
One of the aspects that make Call of Duty Warzone a unique battle royale experience is its Cash economy. As you stealthily lurk around the battlefield, killing enemies, scouting out buildings and completing contracts (more on that in the next tip), you will build up a stash. Once you’ve saved up enough, you can head to a Buy Station to buy gear and powerups, from Armor Plates to UAVs and Precision Airstrikes.
It’s tempting to go all-in on these boons, but keep in mind that Loadout Drops are key to winning the late game. A Loadout Drop will allow all of your squad to pick out from one of your standard multiplayer loadouts, complete with all customizations, so make sure at least one player is saving up.
4) Sign at the perforated line
The $6000 for a Loadout Drop Marker might seem like an insurmountable task to complete, but all hope is not lost. As you roam around the battlefield, you will come across three different types of big payout opportunities called Contracts: Scavenger, Bounties, and Recon.
Scavenger highlights three boxes filled with loot for you to find. Pick up all three and you will be rewarded handsomely. Bounties will mark a specific player for you to hunt down. Take them out and the reward is yours. Finally, Recon marks a specific point on the map which you need to capture before you’re showered with money.
5) Pings, pings everywhere
Apex Legends first introduced the ping feature to the BR world and Warzone has it in spades. Pinging everything, from enemies to objectives, is a vital part of your team communication. That is also true even if you’re on Discord with your teammates as pings can deliver information far more efficiently.
A simple press of a button will mark what you’re looking or aiming at, signalling to your squad that there’s something of interest ahead. Nobody will fault you for using this often so ping away.
And there you have it! These are the top 5 essential Call of Duty Warzone tips to get you started. By following these battle-proven techniques, you’ll be well on your way to dominating the battlefield in no time.
